Notion is Going Offline

I am writing this while offline on an international flight. Will it be saved even though it’s offline?

Notion offline mode has been a widely requested feature. Many people use Notion as a note-taking tool, so having offline access to take notes and write is certainly beneficial. For more affluent people, when they are flying and there is no wifi, because of course who can remain a few hours without doing some kind of work? Anyone raising their hand here? Anyone? God forbid you get to remain silent with nothing but whatever is within and around you—what a terrible situation ah!

Or maybe you want to capture every thought or idea that comes up while you are 50 meters below sea level. So of course you need offline mode in Notion - who would argue with that? God forbid you don’t capture everything that passes through your consciousness and remain without any more thoughts or ideas or social connections for the rest of your life.

Or maybe you want to fake doing something when the power goes out and you are in a cafe in a remote island faking to work when in fact you are there because hell you feel lonely and long for connection but it scares the hell out of your little self. God forbid you need to actually start a real conversation with a physical human being - do they even make those anymore?

Now back to seriousness; this is business! No time to joke around!!

So Notion has offline mode.

You activate offline mode on pages and databases on a per-page basis. When you are online. On the desktop and mobile app.

What is made offline on desktop doesn’t sync on mobile and vice versa. In other words, offline syncs are device-specific. If you wish to use a page offline both on desktop and mobile, you must make it available offline on each device separately.

Databases sync to offline the first 50 pages in the first view.

For paid plans, your most recently visited and Favorited pages are available Offline automatically.

You can see all the pages and databases available offline on a new dedicated Settings menu.

Some blocks are not supported when offline (embeds, buttons, forms, and other advanced blocks).

“Any changes you make offline will save locally and sync automatically the next time your device connects to the internet. On mobile, syncing requires Wi‑Fi—cellular data won’t work. Once your phone reconnects, all your edits update”

You are good to go. That’s it. Nothing else to it, except of course some weird undetected bug that suddenly deletes all your sync settings or forgets to sync one of your most important databases or that doesn’t save any edits to any page made offline. But those are very minor minutiae in the incredible vastness of the new feature that makes all forgettable: Notion has offline mode everyone, please take your hats off.
